Frequently asked questions

What does Get Hours Worked do?
Enter a start time, end time, and break length for each day, and it adds up your total hours worked for the week in both HH:MM and decimal format.
Why does it show both HH:MM and decimal hours?
Clock time and decimal time look similar but aren't the same - 45 minutes is 0.75 hours, not 0.45. Payroll and invoicing systems usually want the decimal figure, so both are shown side by side to avoid that mix-up.
Does it handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If your end time is earlier than your start time (e.g. 22:00 to 06:00), it's treated as crossing midnight and the hours are calculated correctly.
What happens if my break is longer than my shift?
The calculator flags it as an error instead of silently showing a negative or wrong total, so you notice the mistake right away.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. All calculation happens in your browser - nothing is sent to a server or saved once you close the tab.
Is it free to use?
Yes, with no account required.
